Buttons
A mass participation artwork where thousands of buttons were collected, gathered through donation and laid individually, they collectively make up a large-scale multi-coloured installation artwork.
Artistically the button is used here to represent loss, and is adapted for multiple situations of representation in different locations. For example a single button being one object that can be found on a battlefield which can solely represents an individual life lost. On mass the individual buttons collectively make an uncountable array bringing home the mass extent of loss as a whole.
Buttons has been viewed by Thousands at the following locations:
The Great Exhibition 2018 at Lichfield Cathedral
Peace Doves exhibition at Liverpool Cathedral 2021
Church of the Holy Spirit at Harlescott, Shrewsbury, Shropshire 2023 (see film below:)
