Peace Doves – Derby Cathedral – 23rd April – 12th June 2022
Peace Doves is a mass participation large-scale art installation featuring around 8,000 paper doves suspended on ribbon above the nave of Derby Cathedral. The Doves are accompanied by a soundscape from composer David Harper.
The Doves have been decorated by children from 62 schools in Derby and surrounding Derbyshire, community groups working with ArtcoreUK, wellbeing groups and the general public. over 10,000 schoolchildren have been involved and individual artworks in schools have also been created. Over 8,000 paper doves form the final artwork with messages of peace, love and hope, which has created a unique installation reflecting the thoughts and feelings of Derby citizens, from all faiths, ages and backgrounds.
Visitors are welcome to appreciate its scale and beauty and experience a sense of serenity and peace.
